About JoAnn Cannon

JoAnn Cannon is uniquely qualified as a holistic educator, accomplished speaker, writer, and team leader for professional development trainings. She applies her skills in the fields of human wellness, education. and management. She has a doctorate in Public Health (Dr. P.H.) "With Distinction" from UCLA specializing in the behavioral sciences as applied to health education, and a Doctor of Ministry (D. Min.) degree from the University of Creation Spirituality formerly in Oakland, CA. under the pedagogy of theologian Matthew Fox and also as a student of Dr. Jean Houston. She has a certificate in analytical psychology from the Chicago C.G. Jung Institute, has been an arbitrator for the Chicago Better Business Bureau and a keynote speaker for many conferences and businesses events.

After serving nine years in project administration and as faculty in the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Illinois Medical Center, Dr. Cannon left to establish a successful professional development and wellness consulting organization, Inward Bound Ventures. She received a Mac Arthur Foundation Presidential Grant and made a public television presentation on her professional research in wellness. She is a retreat, travel and meditation facilitator and stays engaged in several artistic endeavors while still traveling widely.

It was as an early Peace Corps Volunteer and master teacher in Malawi Central Africa, where JoAnn first became interested in issues of quality of life and also cultural indigenous wisdom, and practices of spirituality. She later returned to West Africa as part of a UCLA faculty team at Ghana Medical School, training rural health workers.

JoAnn recently retired as a faculty member in a California University after 14 years and while there, received a scholarship / creative activity award plus several outstanding faculty citations.
